After diving into the twitter comments I discovered an instagram handle: Hasbulla777. Based on the profile and thanks to google translate (which I have to say has come a long way) this is what I found out: The kid’s name is Khasbulla Magomedov (forgive my pronunciation) he’s from Dagestan which is part of the Russian Federation. He is well on his way to becoming a social media star. And not because he’s a misbehaving wild child but because even though he doesn’t look a day over 3 he’s actually, technically, an adult. Khasbulla Magomedov turned 18 in 2020…. here’s an interview with the local news on the day...I have done nothing to the audio I swear... From what I can gather he suffers from a rare genetic disorder that stopped him growing but aside from that he doesn’t seem to be having many other physical issues... As evidence I present these videos of him fighting children and handling an unruly monkey. It seems that Magomedov has met and befriended a number of Dagestan’s professional fighters here he is with Islam Makhachev who’ll be fighting at UFC 259 on the 6th of March. Magomedov has expressed an ambition to become an MMA fighter himself. That’s right Magomedov, who weighs in at 18kg, wants to test himself in the octagon... ...but even in Russia it’s probably illegal for an adult man, regardless of his size, to fight a monkey or child... so what’s a guy to do? Well the ESPN video that got my attention was probably part of an attempt to promote the proposed bout between Magomedov and a guy named Abdurozik. Abdurozik is from Tajikistan and seems to have the same incredibly rare condition and is also a social media star. The 17 year old tajiki singer gained fame in his homeland by partnering with local popstar and rapper “Baron” in 2019. The fight between Magomedov and Adburozik was scheduled for the 31st of January 2021 but either didn’t happen or the video hasn’t been released yet. I couldn’t find much information beyond the 28th of January 2021...and the entire thing may have been a social media stunt… if it was it definitely worked because here I am making a video about minor celebrities from the other side of the planet... And I’m not alone: every video I found had thousands of views...this one promoting the fight had 4.4 million. I have no idea what is being said, they may very well be explaining why the fight is not happening... they seem fun though… While the Magomedov V Abdurozik fight seems unlikely to happen this kind of MMA is not without precedent in the region: Called “Pop MMA” by google translate these fights feature, according to Tajikistan\'s SPORTS.tj, non-professional fighters of varying degrees of skill and ability who are pitted against one another with categories like weight class and even gender being suspended. These fights are promoted by local celebrities and professional MMA fighters, that are sometimes...shall we say unorthodox... The article went on to say that in 2020 “they even had a fight between a male blogger weighing 240 kg and a 62-kilogram girl” So until we have Magomedov V Abdurozik, you’ll have to settle for Fat Blogger V Thin Girl: ENJOY!
