'Looking to motivate? When it comes to college students, set task-based goals, not performance-based goals. In two field experiments involving almost 4,000 college students, Purdue University economics professor Dr. Victoria Prowse finds that task-based goals had robust positive effects on task completion and also increased course performance. Performance-based goals had positive – but small – effects on course performance. Join Krannert School of Management Associate Professor of Economics Dr. Victoria Prowse and Purdue University Research Center in Economics (PURCE) Kozuch Director Dr. Kevin Mumford as they explore Prowse’s findings, which have important implications for educational practice. This webinar is part of PURCE’s monthly series showcasing faculty research and expertise on important policy topics. Learn more at https://krannert.purdue.edu/centers/purce.'
