
In Edmonton, Tyler Shandro, the Alberta minister of health, announces his government's $81-million investment aimed at improving the delivery of health-care services in rural areas of the province. He also unveils measures to strengthen rural physician recruitment and retention. MLAs Joseph Schow, Tany Yao (chair of the government's rural caucus for northern Alberta) and Nate Horner (chair of the rural caucus for southern Alberta) also take part in the news conference.
