Exotic and happy influences are taking over home decor in 2018 and one of those influences are fringe furniture. It’s a bit retro but combined with bold vibrant colours and tropical prints can result in a fun and eclectic space. Maybe not a trend to be embraced by the masses but it’s definitely not a reference to miss. Originally used for furniture as a way to keep textile trims from unravelling, fringe has a long history in home decor, from Victorian lampshades to hippy 60s curtains. Love it or hate it, it’s a trend that always re-emerges in fashion and decor. This year, we’re expecting to see fringes used in throw pillows, draping itself over lamps or weaving its way into the upholstery.
